In our effort to create a community, we’re opening our doors (emails???) to potential contributors to write for us! This is strictly on a no-pay basis (this blog makes negative dollars as of right now), and we’re hoping that in spite of that, you’d like to join us in our effort to create a strong space for more disenfranchised voices in the blogosphere.
This is what we’re looking for:
We’re most interested in personal essays and op-eds written by women and minorities, with insights into feminism, LGBT issues, culture and politics. Yes, politics. We want to be the balance between IKEA DIY and Women’s Healthcare. We’re looking for original work, original photography and we’re willing to do what we can to help support any journalistic adventures you’re willing to take on! Even if it is your goal to try every Korean sheet mask in the world!
We’re really huge into what’s affecting the millennial generation- job hunting, how to make friends as adults, dating in the world of iPhone apps, how to afford healthcare and housing, and how to own your individual beauty.
And if you happen to be as obsessed with interior design as a certain lady co-founder, we’d love to see what you’ve got!
What we’re not looking for:
Celeb gossip, any sort of fiction, poetry, etc.
If this works for you, you can contribute by:
- Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and include a pitch of what you’d like to work on, and a little bit about yourself
- Please make sure to include your topic ideas in the subject line
- If you have writing samples, send those along too!
